Absent Post; Friday, September 11th
Although I was not in class as of Friday, September 11th, I did later review my notes in preparation for the next class. These notes included but were not limited to defining a sound academic argument, what deductive and inductive arguments are, what the Line of Reasoning is, and exploring the ACE Framework used to establish a statement. The vast majority of these notes came compliments of the class discussions and class note documents which I dedicated plenty of time to. To better familiarize myself with the content, I took the liberty of defining much of what I am expected to learn in this brief blog post:
Argument- A series of statements intended to determine the degree of truth of another statement, the conclusion.
Deductive Arguments- An argument that stems its conclusion from its sole reasoning. An example of which would be making a statement that is perceived upon what has happened in the past (historical patterns repeating; reasoning repeating).
Inductive Argument- An argument that produces a statement based on a reasonable premise. Traditionally, one could express an Inductive Argument is one which states that someone is of a certain ethnicity because he or she acts as such in a broad fashion.
Line of Reasoning- A systematic way to track how an author creates reasonable arguments to support his or her initial stance (idea).
ACE Framework- ACE, which stands for Arguments, Claims, and Evidence helps an author sequentially rationalize a main idea. This is done through the framework's use of evidence requested for every claim the author decides to establish. The ACE Framework (as shown on our second lesson plan) is shown below:
Argument: “___________________.”
Claims:

With that said, I look forward to being regrouped with my class upon my return. Stay safe and thanks for reading!
